Managing Research Project Notes

Leaving notes on research projects is a valuable practice that enhances collaboration, improves clarity, and facilitates progress tracking. Notes can serve various purposes, such as recording observations, highlighting significant findings, or suggesting future directions for the research.

Access the Notes Page

To access the notes page, click on the Notes menu at the top of the page or on the profile option and then select Notes. Once you're on this page, you will see the following sections:
  1. My Notes: In this section, you will find a list of notes that you have created but have not assigned to any project. Each note provides you with the following information:
  1. The username of the note's creator is differentiated by the term Owner if it is you, and Other if it was created by someone else.
  2. The title of the note.
  3. A brief description of the note.
  4. A link to the article that the note is associated with; clicking the arrow icon next to the link will open the corresponding article on a separate page.
  5. The date and time when the note was created.
  1. Projects: You will also see projects that you have created or joined. By clicking on any project, you will gain access to the notes associated with that project.

Adding a Note

To add a note, follow one of the steps below:
  1. Adding a Note to an Article: First, search for the article you want to add a note to, click on the three-dot icon (more options), and select Add Note.
  2. Adding a Note to a Project: Click on the Notes section, then select your desired project from the My Notes page. You will be directed to that project's notes page, where you can click the Add Note button.
  3. Adding an Unassigned Note: You can add a note without assigning it to an article or project. To do so, click on the Notes section to access the My Notes page, then click the Add Note button.
In any of the above scenarios, you will be taken to the Add Note page, where you will need to enter the following information:
  1. Title: This should provide a clear idea of the note's content at a glance.
  2. Note: In this section, you can provide a detailed explanation of what your note is about. This gives context and additional information that may be helpful for future reference.
  3. Article Link: Here, you can include the link to the article that you wish to add a note to.
  4. Stick to: By clicking on this section, you will be presented with a dropdown list of projects you can access. Selecting a project will assign the current note to it, helping you to organize your notes by specific projects.
Note: Entering the article link and choosing a project is optional. You have the flexibility to create notes without linking them to specific articles or projects.
Note: If you are using adding a note to an article method, the article link will automatically inserted in this section based on the article you selected. If you need to change the link, you can do so by clicking the X icon to remove it or pasting a new link.
Note: If you use add a note to a project method, the current project will automatically be inserted in the Stick to section. You can click to open the dropdown menu to select a different project, or you can choose to add the note directly to My Notes without associating it with any project.
